I have been slowly going through my iPhoto library of 145000 pictures the past week and finally got fed up with it.  I did a little searching and found a great little app for a super low price that is to die for if you are in my situation.  I have slowly combined several iPhoto libraries over the years and always feared deleting a pic I would never get back.  Well it finally caught up with me and now I have way to many pictures.  Duplicate Annihilator take all the work out of finding duplicate pictures in iPhoto.  Just tell it what to look for whether it be their algorithm search or just by title or file size and it will go through and find all the duplicates and mark them for you for easy deletion afterwards.  Now it does take some time, especially with a library the size of mine but for all you normal folks out there it would work great.  Also there have been some questions about whether it works with iPhoto 09, well I can tell you it does and it works like a charm.  Drop me a line if you want more feedback on this app, it is well worth the $7.95 it cost me.
